FOLK MUSIC & HARMONY
Natalie Suzanne has been singing since she was a small child and has a particular love for learning, creating and sharing harmony singing. She began writing folk music during her many years living off-grid in the Cuyama high desert and recently released her first full-length album, ENCHANTMENT.
Natalie spent 4 informative years as an ensemble member with the internationally recognized women’s vocal ensemble, KITKA. Several years prior to this time, she began her journey of studying polyphonic singing through learning multi-part songs from the Slavic and Balkan traditions specifically.
During her time in KITKA, Natalie had the blessing of learning directly from living masters Tzvetanka Varimezova (Bulgaria), Mahsa Vahdat (Iran), Svetlana Spajic (Serbia), Kostroma / Russian House Kedry (Russia / USA), Mariana Sadovska (Ukraine), Basiani Ensemble (Republic of Georgia), and Christo Govetas (Greece). She sang with the ensemble on two albums: Evening Star and I Will Remember Everything. Natalie also spent time singing with the UCSB Middle East Ensemble, diving into the vast, brilliant music systems from North Africa to Greece and beyond.
Natalie will continue to share intimate harmony singing containers through Folkways and looks forward to gathering in communal connection and song.
